INTERVIEW: LADY NADIA ESSEX OF CELEBS GO DATING

INTERVIEW: LADY NADIA ESSEX OF CELEBS GO DATING Hi Nadia, thank you for taking the time to talk to us today! We know you for your role as one of the dating agents on E4’s ‘Celebs Go Dating’, how did that role come about? Well I was working as a love coach and must have been starting to build a reputation for myself because I got a call out of the blue one day, “we are looking for experts for a new dating show. Would like to set up a meeting.” I jumped at the chance. And the rest is history. Who would you say has been your biggest challenge to find love for on the show and who has been your favourite celeb to work with so far? This series it’s been Charlotte (Dawson) and Frankie (Cocozza). They started hooking up with each other, which is strictly against the rules. When you are hooking up with another celeb you don’t go into the proper dates with an open mind and it hinders your true experience of finding love. In the same blush, Charlotte Dawson has been my favourite. Never met anyone quite like her and I’m unlikely ever too again because there really is only one Charlotte Dawson. She has a true heart of gold and I am very fond of her. If you could have anyone come on the show, who would you love to work with and help find love? Jesy from Little Mix. She is such a wonderfully talented amazing woman and I’ve loved her since her first X factor audition. She really deserves true love and I would love to work with her to help her find it. What made you take the career path of becoming a relationship advisor? I believe we are all born with at least one thing we are really good at. Giving advice, motivating and inspiring people to have the confidence to find true lasting love is mine. You are great at giving advise on the show but how easy is it to take your own advice when it comes to your own love life? Fairly easy. I am able to see situations subjectively. Sometimes not at the time but I always love to learn and improve myself so will think back at situations and circumstances and think, what could I have done better, what could I have changed about my reaction or communication. Outside of work are you also the go to for relationship advise within your friendship group to? I’m never off duty. Friends, family, strangers. On the bus, in the supermarket queue, everyone asks my advice. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love helping people. Everyone gets a bit nervous going on first dates, what tips would you give for helping them go as smoothly as possible? Enjoy the getting ready process. Take time to have a nice bath, give yourself plenty of time to get ready so you are not rushed. Put on some lovely music and pour a glass of bubbles. The more relaxed and happy you turn up the more the nerves will go. Also don’t be scared of awkward silences. A natural silence is comforting and if you fill every silence you will never get to know your date. If it goes silent, take a deep breath and a sip of your drink. Conversation will flow again I’m sure of it. We want to know what your worst and best date have ever been? Worst - turned up to him sitting with other girls draping over him and thinking that was acceptable. It wasn’t. Turned on my Louboutins and got myself outta there. Best - met a guy in a bar. Had great chemistry. He had to go to Monaco for work and a few days of speaking later he couldn’t wait for the date so flew me over to Monte Carlo for lunch. Felt like a princess. You are from Chelsea in London, how would you describe the dating scene there? Any area is hard. Dating is hard. We are all just hoping to bump into The One. Chelsea guys are lovely though. They have impeccable manners and the guys I date don’t even know what 'going dutch’ means. As you know we are 'The Female Hustler’, what would you say your definition of a 'Female Hustler’ is? I would class myself as a Female Hustler. I’ve never been given anything in my life and had to work extremely hard for everything I have. Things generally don’t come easy for me but if I set my mind to something, with hard graft and importantly, hustle, I always achieve it…eventually. What do you have coming up outside of 'Celebs Go Dating’ that people should look out for? Any exclusives you can give us? I’ve just re-launched my website www.theagency.ltd It’s open to everyone over the age of 18 for my private coaching away from TV. Hi Nadia, thank you for taking the time to talk to us today!
